Liesl Schillinger
Liesl Schillinger is a journalist, literary critic and translator based
in New York. She grew up in Midwestern university towns, where she
studied French and German, then attended Yale, where she studied
Comparative Literature and Russian. She worked at The New Yorker
Magazine for more than a decade, and has been a regular book critic for
the New York Times Book Review since 2004. Her writing has appeared in
The New Yorker, The New Republic, The Washington Post, New York
Magazine, The New York Times, Newsweek, Allure, Vogue, and many
publications here and in the U.K. She is a frequent moderator of
literary panels, and is also the creator of
(a neologisms blog dating from 3/28/2009, illustrated by Elizabeth
Zechel), scheduled for publication by Free Press as a full-color,
hardcover book in June 2013. Her translation of the novel, “Every Day, Every Hour,” by Nataša Dragnić, was published in May, 2012 (Viking).
